For a while the songs were separate rooms we spent time in and it was only as I threaded them together I understood how coherent the collection had become. Looking inward and outbound, they are full of hope, disbelief, yearning and defiance.

Talking to Earth from the stars in The Great Wide Open; the restless seeking of a lonely astronomer in Astrosurf; a call to the landlocked Englander to break our shores in English Boy; Kite the album’s heartsong, where a waning mind reaches out to be held and in Warrior Queen I stamp my feet for the wounded, the land and all our futures.
